Summer Fruit Painting in Gouache

Get juicy with color in this beginner-friendly painting workshop where we explore the vibrant world of creamy gouache paint. In this class, you’ll learn the basics of layering simple, bold shapes and bright hues to create modern fruit-inspired artwork.

This class will focus on the following fruits: papayas and citrus! Drawing templates of these subjects will be available, though you may also free draw your own artwork to add a personal touch. Focus on only one, or complete all three!

We’ll walk through working with gouache (a very fun medium!), including tips for layering and controlling this unique paint. You’ll leave with 1-2 charming fruit study mini artworks, perfect for framing or gifting, gaining an appreciation for gouache paint and learning new techniques.

📌 Note:

This event is geared towards adult learners, but teens 13+ are welcome to join a parent or guardian.

What You’ll Learn:

✔️ The basics of working with gouache paint, including mixing and layering colors
✔️ Painting bright, bold fruit designs with templates drawn by Ren to give you a special composition to complete so you can focus on controlling paint
✔️ Complete mini artworks suitable for framing or gifting, with tips on elevating your piece to be an artful keepsake

What’s Included:

📱 Technology to view inspiration photos, mood boards, and overhead views of the instructor's hands
✍️ All high-quality papers, gouache paint and brushes, and extra special materials
📘 Worksheets & drawn templates to complete, if needed
🎨 Two full hours of guided instruction, with a half hour at the end to work independently, finish up projects, and ask questions

Lauren Beck is an artist, educator, and the founder of Bloomery Art Co., known for her inviting, beginner-friendly workshops that celebrate creativity in all forms. With a background in illustration and a passion for color, Lauren brings a playful yet thoughtful approach to teaching. In this class, Lauren shares her love for modern, expressive painting, making it accessible and joyful for artists of all levels.

Important Details:

Whether you're a complete novice or a seasoned crafter, this class is designed to inspire and excite you! Our beginner-friendly workshop is geared toward adult learners, but this particular instructor has PA clearances to safely work with teens (age 13+). Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian attend the workshop with them, and a signed liability waiver is required prior to class.
