FAQs

Do I need teaching experience to apply?

While teaching experience is preferred, we’re also happy to work with passionate folks who are new to teaching but have a strong desire to share their craft. Our founder, Lauren Beck, has a background in Art Education, and she can work with you to best develop your process to translate to an educational setting.

What type of classes can I propose?

We welcome a variety of proposals, including one-day workshops, multi-week courses, or seasonal offerings. Popular on-trend projects and mediums are preferred to appeal to our customer base, but we’re open to unique ones that inspire creativity and experimentation.

If you are interested in working with teens through our studio, we require all instructors to provide valid Pennsylvania clearances to ensure the safety of minors. These are mandatory even in mixed-age settings where teens under 18 are present. If you are only interested in teaching adults, that can be arranged!

Do you provide materials for the classes?

Bloomery provides basic supplies for many classes, but educators are welcome to suggest specialized materials for their workshops. We can work together to create a materials list or develop a materials fee if needed.

How are educators compensated?

Our compensation model is competitive and based on the length of the class, the number of students, and the complexity of the materials. We value your time and expertise! Specific rates will be discussed when we review your proposal.

Who are the students at Bloomery?

Our students include beginners and hobbyists of all ages, but we welcome all creative folks at all stages. We run classes for adults and teens, so you can tailor your teaching to the audience that best fits your style and expertise.
