Come enjoy making a handmade sketchbook, then fill it with four guided abstract drawing practices to encourage playful creativity as you fill blank pages with confidence!

Students in this class will explore a simple bookmaking process to create a custom journal using a "five-hole pamphlet stitch" (lots of instruction provided to get it just right!). Once they are bound and complete, there will be instruction for guided drawing exploration in the journal with some relaxing and easy practices using pencil, pen, colored pencils and other quality artist tools.

This class is all levels! While very beginner-friendly with an aim toward a fun experience, this class will also challenge a more seasoned artist to expand their skills and relax in play. You will leave the class ready to continue your sustainable creative practice in your handmade sketchbook!

📌 Note:

This event is geared towards adult learners, but teens 13+ are welcome to join a parent or guardian.

Meet Your Instructor:

Heather Cavalieri is an artist working primarily in paper and fiber. She holds a BFA in craft with a focus in fiber art, bookarts, and drawing. Her work has been shown in galleries and selected for personal collections. Heather loves to teach and encourage others to create!

Whether you're a complete novice or a seasoned crafter, this class is designed to inspire and excite you! Our beginner-friendly workshop is geared toward adult learners, but this particular instructor has PA clearances to safely work with teens (age 13+). Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian attend the workshop with them, and a signed liability waiver is required prior to class.
