Have you ever wanted to start a daily art practice? Whether you want to improve your drawing skills, explore color, create collages, or just infuse some creativity into your day, a journal to contain your practice helps you set your intention. A journal is a container for exploration, and in this class you'll create twelve for the new year ahead!

With expert guidance, we will spend our time crafting a series of twelve easy-to-make pamphlet style journals — one for each month of the year (plus one extra to play with during class). The idea is to make a space for a simple daily creativity practice.

Along with learning to create a simple pamphlet book, we will discover new ideas for filling them. We’ll explore what a daily creativity practice is and plan how you personally want to grow your creativity over the year, looking at examples of possible ways to use your journal and try some ideas out. You'll leave with a fun plan to use your handmade journals to grow in your art practice and creativity.

This class is for all levels. No special skills needed!

This event is geared towards adult learners, but teens 13+ are welcome to join a parent or guardian.

What You’ll Learn:

✔️ How to sew a pamphlet-style journal (making multiple to take home)
✔️ What a daily art practice is and how to start one with intention for the new year
✔️ Simple collage and drawing techniques to explore while embracing creativity

Your new year will be set with twelve fresh containers for your art practice, ready to explore and grow in your creativity!

Meet Your Instructor:

Heather Cavalieri is an artist working primarily in paper and fiber. She holds a BFA in craft with a focus in fiber art, bookarts, and drawing. Her work has been shown in galleries and selected for personal collections. Heather loves to teach and encourage others to create!

Important Details:

Whether you're a complete novice or a seasoned crafter, this class is designed to inspire and excite you! Our beginner-friendly workshop is geared toward adult learners, but this particular instructor has PA clearances to safely work with teens (age 13+). Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian attend the workshop with them, and a signed liability waiver is required prior to class.
