Art Meets Fashion: Decorate Your Wearables (Summer Program for Ages 10+)

Paint, stitch, and bling — where fabric becomes art!

Bring your own clothing items to decorate. These could be denim jackets or pants, hoodies, hats, canvas bags, or other fabric pieces that could use some upcycling.

This immersive week of fiber arts exploration encourages learners to dive into the creative world of textiles — the art of making and transforming fabrics by hand — with hands-on processes such as fabric printing, embroidery, and adding embellishments to adorn their creations. Perfect for pre-teens and teens (ages 10-17) who love to craft, design, or simply try new things, this program offers an exciting blend of traditional and modern techniques, with encouragement to make art that’s fun, bold, and expressive.

Our instructor, Amanda Seanor, is a middle school art teacher and a professional maker, expertly weaving creations on the loom and creating intricately beaded jewelry. You’ll love her vibrant and engaging style of teaching, complete with professional tips and gentle guidance.

📌 Note:

This camp is designed specifically for preteens or teens ages 10–17. To ensure the best creative experience, we ask that all participants fall within this age range when registering. Thank you!

Three-Day Breakdown:

  • Day One: PAINT!
Textile painting with special fabric paint to craft original designs, including experimental techniques such as screen printing.
  • Day Two: STITCHING!
Embellish clothing items with a variety of embroidery stitching patterns and visible mending techniques.
  • Day Three: BLING!
Continue to decorate these items with a sparkly touch, adding stitched beading, sequins, and other fancy touches.
  • OPTIONAL DAY FOUR can be added as "Open Friday Studio for Preteens & Teens" in order to finish up work or simply explore materials in a relaxed way, with the instructor present for feedback. (see more info below)

Daily Schedule:

We allow drop-off starting at 8:45am, with our program beginning at 9:00am and finishing at 12:00pm, for 3-hours of instruction each day. There will be a complimentary snack once per day, where students can relax and take a break from their art making, or they can continue working as they munch. Pickup begins at 12:00pm, with a buffer of 15 minutes.

Open Friday Studio for Preteens & Teens:

Oftentimes, students need some additional time to finish up projects, or they just are having too much fun to stop for the week! We are opening up Fridays in the summer for an additional add-on day, which will offer participants a relaxed timeframe to continue exploring, or even try a new medium in a low-stress way to finish out their week.

Instructors will be available for assisting the art making, but they'll act as more of a facilitator keeping kids on task, answering questions, or offering suggestions. This will not be a formal lesson!

These days will also be open to any preteens and teens to drop in for creative time, so kids can bring their friends or join in on other weeks during the summer, too. Each participant must have a paid ticket to join the session.

Interested in adding on our Open Friday Studio? Add on the specific date in your cart at any time. We can host up to 18 preteens and teens during these special Fridays.
